So I have a Hypermax Link (2 inlets and 2 outlets) and an Ecotech MP40 wave maker I have an inlet on each side of the tank and and outlet on the back left facing right and the second inlet is half way along the back of the tank facing right as well (the wave make is on the left hand side about 4 inches from the top of the tank on the left hand pane of glass pushing water to the right in the same direction. Would you suggest to set it up differently or good as it is ?

If you were treating this as an internal sump would you not have your fine filter socks first to remove the fine muck

I ended up using the foams it came with, however i cut them both in half. I used 1 half of each in one tray. That way the rest is hard media

I have this filter. Soon after purchase I noticed a rattling sound, I opened up the pump and found the magnet impeller broken. The pet shop I purchased contacted beta and a replacement soon arrived with spare ceramic rod too that goes thru impeller.. The unit is sturdy, proper thick tubing unlike the flimsy tubing that comes with the other 4 fx 6’s I possess.. Ehims have had for years, the large ones and middle sizes.. the locking system that shuts off the water for removal of the head often Jams open, not jamed but breaks.. Anyway, love this beta canister 🧐🇮🇪

How long per day should have to run the sump pump. There is sponge filter running all day.

What happens if your outlet is 1/4from right side but aimed to the right wall so the flow kinda hits just off front left corner on right wall where does it go from there i am curious

Hi maybe you can help I am going to setup a 55gallon with a tidal 110 and a tidal 75 I’m going to use one of them for a full cycle filter (very slow flow) with the 5lbs of bio home media and sponges Should I put them both in the middle or on opposite ends 🤷🙏✌️🇨🇦

I took the boxes out, put a cut of coarse and medium foam at the bottom, then two bigger bags of biohome media (got in more biological media that way) and then a polishing foam on top of that. We are all pimping our filters. Thanks to your channel.

oki, here's the pimp: I'm getting the Shark Pro 700 for my molded 50-gal indoor goldfish patio pond that does not have straight glass sides. Poopy little goldfishes I saved from the feeder tank at the store, but so cute! The unit will sit upright on the flat bottom of the pond on its stable, square base, so I don't care about the magnets. If needed I have a rock to weigh it down to counter the outflow (which worked fine for the Marineland submersible I was using that just died). I'm getting 1 extra module. The bottom module will hold my own sponge filter media. Next up sponge and bio gravel. Next up sponge and carbon. I'll cut some plastic inserts and slip them inside between the intake slots and the sponge of the top 2 modules thereby forcing the unit to draw water in first from the bottom module, up and up through the other two and then out. Light layer of floss on the bottoms of the top 2 modules. Should work like a charm. Will update. Thanks for the great review to help me decide! Update: Well didn't work exactly as planned because I didn't realize the water moves up through the filter from the front of each module (in through the sides, through the media, and up through a channel in the front). The water entering each module bypasses the next module above it instead of going through the media of the next module too. But it stands perfectly on the floor of the no-gravel pond, is practically invisible against the black plastic of the pond, water flow is good, and it's very, very quiet. I'm quite happy with it!

Thanks a lot! I’m considering a Fluval 207 just now for my 80L aquascape tank and now I’m convinced about this external filter. Question: since I can’t find locally the exact bio media you use, would you recommend seachem matrix as well? And how about leaving one container with the ceramic media that comes with filter and one basket with seachem matrix? So combining both not to throw away the Fluval media that came with the filter. Thanks a lot!!!

Good visualization. How would you set up two canister filters? Because I actually use two Fluval FX6 on one tank, and one FX6 + one Biomaster 850 on another tank. For the moment they are all set-up opposite of each other with their individual inputs + outputs together on one side. One output flows horizontally towards the other side, the second output on the other side flows towards the frontside of the aquarium.

I have my Sicce Whale set up with the intake and outlet on the same end of the tank. Not because I thought it was optimal... but because I was forced to place the cannister beside the tank. Happy accident that my setup is apparently most effective!

You can also buy a dedicated 'tee' and give, for example, a second container with a sponge next to it - in series, then the problem of height is eliminated. You can also buy a dedicated rain shower. A lot of possibilities for simple configuration are given by these filters and quite a large total filrration capacity, not inferior to the medium-sized "cascade" filters.

I have been keeping fish for ages and always thought that keeping in &out flow on the same side would not be the best results for many reasons. I have learned something new today. That is a perfect illustration. Bravo!!!!

Excellent demonstration, also having both inlet and outlet in the same place should increase the flow rate and save energy at the same time because the outlet pipe in not starched out at the other end. Less drag to push the water out

Great video as usual.. thanks pondguru. I would really appreciate if you could also demonstrate the same, but this time with wave maker in the loop. I find it really useful for most of the tanks for surface agitation and sand skimming, specially in highly stocked aquariums.
